Uncle Brian's 50th Birthday
I can't remember the last time I gathering with members of my extended family exclusive of lots of other people. Of course, this is in part because I have the tendency live-- outside of the tri-state area and miss opportunities. There were a number of people missing from the extended Buchs Bunch, but it was really wonderful to spend time with those who were present. And, while Uncle Brian has a hunch we all showed up to eat Aunt Stacey's delicious food (which it was), I think it's safe to say, there was plenty of enjoyment in celebrating the 50 mark. Matthew claims Uncle Brian has four days to change his mind (his birthday isn't really until August 8th), maybe he'll decide to hold at 49. I, and I think others, had the chance to play ladder football for the first time. Thankfull, I was not completely unable to score, and Brady and I were able to defeat Matthew and Molly, who had done a good job beating everything else they played. Interestingly enough the women seemed to be the overwhelming point scorers for the day. Of course one of the best things about family gatherings is that no one goes home empty handed. This was even more of a jackpot day than usual with offerings of Michigan peaches and home grown sweet corn. Who could pass on either? I am more than willing to share the sweet corn, but I'm hording the peaches.
